Course Description:

Physical Optics is a foundation course focused on the study of light propagation laws and characteristics by taking light as an electromagnetic wave and using electromagnetic theory, and it is not only the most important foundation but also an extraordinarily active part in optics field. The course introduces the propagation laws of light in isotropic and anisotropic materials based on the wave-motion of light and Maxwell electromagnetic theory. The optical characteristics of interference, diffraction and polarization of light are introduced. Through the study of the course, students will understand the propagation laws of light and the interaction between light and materials at the viewpoint of wave-motion nature of light, learn the basic theories and analytical methods of physical optics, and know the new technology, new achievements and new applications of physical optics. The course will benefit the students in further study, research and development in the fields of optics, electronics, instrument and relative field.

Course Description:

Digital Signal Processing is a professional basic course for students majoring electronics and information, and it is a course with strong theoretical requirements. In this course, Discrete Fourier Transform and Digital Filter are the main points. We focus on the basic theory and analytical method on discrete time signal and system. We emphasis on the combination of theory and practice, and we also focus on the relationship between principle and application.

The main points of course are: Sampling theory of signal and its application; analytical method for discrete-time signal in time-domain, frequency domain and z-domain; concept, computation and application of Discrete Fourier Transform; basic structure of digital filter; and the design principle of FIR and IIR filter.

The purpose of this course is to help students to establish a theoretical basis in digital signal processing field. Through combination of theoretical knowledge and practical application, students are trained to have the ability of solving practical problems using basic digital signal processing methods. The course will benefit the students in further study, research, and development in the fields of electronics and information.
